On this Web site we will attempt to give you a small peek into why people like to live here, what we are doing as a community,  and a little about some of our rules and regulations.  It is our hope that we will be able to provide accurate up to date information, or to provide a source from which such information can be obtained, for our citizens, visitors, and business persons.  Almira Township lies in the northeastern part of Benzie County, which is situated in the northwest region of Michigan's lower peninsula.  Almira Township is 33.8 square miles in area.  We border Grand Traverse County to the east and Leelanau County to the north.  The Township is approximately 15 miles from Traverse City which provides many employment, shopping and cultural amenities not available in the Township.  Almira Township is a General Law Township.   Elected officers serve a four year term.

Almira Township Lakefront Park Project Grant Awarded

On December 3rd 2008 the Department of Natural Resources Trust Fund awarded a grant in the amount of $478,100.00 to Almira Township. This Ann Lake parcel will be for the benefit of existing and future residents and the surrounding area.   It will create an open space and beach on Ann Lake, for the use and enjoyment of the public for swimming, picnicking, education and reflection.  The Township along  with the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy and Almira Citizens for Preservation have created a dynamic partnership to preserve this wonderful property as a lakefront park.  Many Township residents, local businesses and many other volunteers are working together to raise cash donations.  The next major fund raising event is scheduled for:
